The total area of the Geopark is 415 km2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Its landscape is the result of an interaction between nature, geological aspects, and society. The millenary use of soil has resulted in an impressive landscape where diverse forms of erosion allow the visitor to understand processes that shape the earth&#8217;s surface and have given rise to spectacular relief forms of particular interest. Geopark comprises nine municipalities located in the western part of the State of Oaxaca, in the Mixteca Alta region, one of the most important cultural regions of Mexico. The total area of the Geopark is 415 km2.<\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><span>Its landscape is the result of an interaction between nature, geological aspects, and society. The millenary use of soil has resulted in an impressive landscape where diverse forms of erosion allow the visitor to understand processes that shape the earth's surface and have given rise to spectacular relief forms of particular interest. The cultural and natural heritage is evident in the landscape; archaeological zones, churches and Viceroyal convents from the 16th century, as well as extensive areas of natural vegetation combine with the geology and landforms to form unique landscapes.<\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><span>The Mixteca Alta Geopark is a community-based, educational project, focused on the public interested in
